The Centre national des oeuvres universitaires et scolaires, responsible for student social services
Founded under French law on April 16, 1955, the CNOUS aims to improve the living and working conditions of students.
Supporting the national policy of equal opportunity
The Cnous acts in the interest of students as the agent of many important national ministries, including the Ministère de l'éducation nationale, de l'enseignement supérieur et de la recherche (education and research) and Ministère des affaires étrangères (foreign affairs). And the Cnous is developing closer relations with the ministries responsible for housing and culture. The CNOUS has been given responsibility by the Ministère de l'Outre-Mer to manage the "Passeport mobilité" programme. Due to its experience and proficiency in the field, the Cnous is always a respected voice in the domains of student services and aid, in order to better serve students all through their studies in the domain of national and international mobility.
International activities of the Cnous
The Cnous supervises foreign grant holders for the Ministère des Affaires étrangères, ensures their reception and organizes their priority treatment by the Crous. It negotiates projects in partnership with universities for construction of student life services. And it mobilizes foreign investment sources to create programmes of foreign government education grants.
